Merck to pay $4.85 billion in Vioxx settlement
Pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. will pay out $4.85 billion to settle cases of people who suffered heart attack or stroke after taking its painkiller drug Vioxx.
Vioxx was withdrawn from the market three years ago after serious concerns were raised regarding its safety. Vioxx was shown to double the risk of heart attack and stroke in its users, who mostly took the drug for arthritis pain. There were reports of Vioxx possibly being responsible for 138,000 heart attacks and 55,000 deaths in the US during its time on the market.
This massive settlement is a tremendous win for injured victims everywhere who will now see compensation for the injuries they suffered after taking Vioxx.

Steven L. Chung of Lundy Law has been appointed a Member of the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association. PTLA is an active professional organization comprised of civil and criminal litigation attorneys.

Thomas A. Masterson, Jr., of Lundy Law was elected President Of the Radnor Township Board Of Commissioners. The seven member Board supervises Township operations, establishes an annual budget, levy's taxes, enacts ordinances, sets policy and appoints members to advisory boards, commissions and authorities. Masterson has been a member of the Board since 2003 serving on various committees including: finance, personnel and public safety.
