December 30, 2019 – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
One of Philadelphia’s longest running traditions returns to kick off the new year! The annual Mummers Parade will be held on Wednesday, January 1. The parade will kick off at City Hall and head to South Philadelphia ending at Washington Avenue. Judging of the performances will take place on 15th and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, although the Mummers will be entertaining the entire route down Broad Street.
When the Fancy Brigades finish their route they will head over to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for the Mummers Fancy Brigade Finale performances.
If you arrive early enough you’ll get the opportunity to see the Mummers rehearse some routines on John F. Kennedy Boulevard between 16th and 22nd Streets. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet some performers and snap some pictures.
The parade will begin at 9 a.m. and end around 5 p.m. If you’re interested in snagging a sidewalk spot be sure to arrive early! Fancy Brigades will hold two ticketed competitions at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, one at 11:30 a.m. and the second at 5 p.m. Tickets for the Mummers ticketed performances can be purchased at the Independence Visitors Center at 6th and Market Streets for $20.
Of course, there’s a massive celebration in South Philadelphia at “Two Street” following the parade.
