A federal judge has blocked 3M to forgo liability for permanent hearing loss and ear damage by thousands of users of the defective ear plugs, including active duty service members.
The manufacturer has been accused of releasing plugs that failed to protect Marines and soldiers from long term hearing related disabilities. The company invoked their government contract defense, which would say 3M isn’t liable for any injuries caused. Last week, a federal judge’s ruling shot that down stating the design of the ear plugs were designed without any input from military.
