Don’t Be Silly, Sports Drinks are not for Kids.

According to the Washington Post (5/30, Huget) “The Checkup” blog, a report published by the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Nutrition and its Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness says that “sports drinks aren’t necessary for children and teenagers and are likely to contribute to obesity.” The report urges parents to “entirely avoid consumption of the beverages as well as any other caloric beverages such as soft drinks.”
