Lundy Law Library Express
The LundyLaw Library Express was established in 2012 as the first initiative of The Lundy Law Foundation. The purpose of The Lundy Law Library Express is to enhance the quality of life for children during their stay at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). When a child is hospitalized, we want to do everything we can to help make his or her world better.
Colorful carts (mobile libraries) filled with brand-new, age-appropriate reading, coloring, and activity books are available at the CHOP library, or they can be delivered by volunteers to children on all nine floors (500 beds) and to treatment rooms at the CHOP ER. Patients can choose books from the cart, which are theirs to keep.
Healing Through Reading
This project was inspired by the idea that books can be an important part of the healing process. Medical studies clearly identify a positive correlation between wellness and the availability of books to entertain, educate, and provide an escape for patients.
In addition to Judy and Leonard Lundy, Lundy Law’s marketing director, Tami Sortman, is a member of The LundyLaw Library Express board, and she is dedicated to this initiative.
