A 75-year-old passenger died when a rock flew off a truck and smashed the windshield of a nearby car, according to the Asbury Park Press. While the New Jersey car accident seemed to be an accident, police were still looking for the truck driver Thursday. Police said the driver was probably unaware of what happened.

Asbury Park Press reported that the New Jersey governor signed legislation empowering police to crack down on drivers using hand-held cell phones or text messaging on the road. It has been illegal to drive and talk on a hand-held cell phone since 2004 but police could only ticket for an infraction if the driver was pulled over for something else.
In an effort to further reduce New Jersey car accidents, this bill allows enables police to ticket any motorist who uses a hand-held cell phone while driving. New Jersey joins California, Connecticut, New York, and Washington D.C. in this attempt to reduce auto accidents.
